The Ocean's Trilogy is a series of three caper comedies directed by Steven Soderbergh and produced by Jerry Weintraub for Warner Bros., between 2001 and 2007. The first of the films, Ocean's Eleven (2001) was a remake of the 1960 film of the same name and was followed, due to an immense commercial success, by sequels Ocean's Twelve (2004) and Ocean's Thirteen (2007). The films combine well-known elements from heist films and con artist films, presented in a slick and cool style, with a notable absence of violence and gunplay, and an emphasis on humor and lightheartedness.

Ocean's Eleven

Just out of prison, master thief Danny Ocean plans an elaborate casino-heist to win back his ex-wife, recruiting a wild bunch of thieves and con men to pull off the complex job.

Ocean's Twelve

The Ocean's crew goes to Europe for some heists to get back enough money to pay casino tycoon Terry Benedict, but seem to run into a thievery competition with a mysterious French rival.

Ocean's Thirteen

The eleven plan to rig a new casino's opening night after its ruthless owner (Al Pacino) double crosses one of the gang.

Future

Although the numbering of the titles (11, 12, 13) could potentially go on forever, which has been the subject of jokes both in interviews with cast and crew and in the media (TV-episodes, internet clips, etc.), those involved with the series (particularly Soderbergh and series star George Clooney) downplayed the possibility of an Ocean's Fourteen or subsequent sequels.[1] Following the 2008 death of actor Bernie Mac, Soderbergh definitively ruled out any further Ocean's sequels, stating that "Any possibility of ever revisiting [The Ocean's Trilogy] ended when Bernie Mac died. I don't think any of us would want to go back and do that without him, so that's it." [2]
